Now that the hurricane season is in full effect, it starts getting more and more difficult to predict the weather. Which is important when your couple is traveling all the way from Gainesville for their beach engagement session, you want to be pretty certain it won’t get rained out! [...as much as I would love to do an engagement session in the rain, I'm not sure that most couples share that same affinity of getting wet, haha.] Luckily it all worked out and not a drop of rain. Let’s hope for the same great weather (minus the heat & humidity) for their march wedding on the west coast of Florida.

I sat around all morning checking the weather channel and looking outside, the sky looked as if it’d open up any minute. Luck must have been on their side because the ceremony went off without a hitch and the sky looked gorgeous.

After meeting Christine & Jim just 2.5 weeks ago at their engagement session, we had the chance to photograph their beautiful wedding at First Presbyterian Church and the Vero Beach Hotel, both in Vero Beach. There was a gorgeous garden on the grounds of the church that I pretty much fell in love with. Christine & Jim are both so incredibly nice and easy to work with, we had a great time documenting their day (except maaaybe the 1,003,938% humidity).

Which we got to quickly take advantage of, in between throwing umbrellas and towels around during the sprinkling. This “bubbly” couple from Virginia is having their destination wedding in the Fall here at the Vero Beach Hotel & Spa. Since they are from out of state, she had a busy weekend of getting things prepared for their wedding day, and on that list was their beach engagement photos! By the end of the shoot, the sunset turned this vibrant pinkish-purply color, and we were happy they were willing to get their feet wet for the photos : )

Here are some of our fave photos from Christine and Jim’s engagement session. For our first location we made a stop to FIT’s boathouse property in Melbourne. Jim finds himself there quite a bit since he is FIT’s crew coach. I had no idea how long those boats are in person, and that they can cost around $40,000! We finished up over at Ryckman Park, such a great spot with so many cutie settings. See you in 2 weeks for your wedding at the Vero Beach Hotel!

This was a lovely, intimate wedding that took place at Vero Beach Hotel & Spa over the weekend. We were contacted shortly before the wedding date, so we didn’t get a chance to do an engagement session or meet the couple before hand, but we quickly found out that we had a lot in common! One of which, was a puppy… and just when I thought my dog had a crazy tongue, I think her chihuahua won!

After watching the news in the morning, I thought for sure I’d be packing cute umbrellas and rain boots for a rainy wedding day, but luckily tropical storm Bonnie was a dud and we had some great sunny weather for their wedding.

One of our past married couples have returned for their family portraits! Combined… they have 5 boys… which sounds like a quite a handful, but they are all very well behaved (when bribed?) and they were also pretty funny. Our favorite photo is when they were by the “danger propellers chop heads off” sign, haha. We started the shoot at the bustling airport of Sebastian, where Ricardo flew in a Cessna plane from Melbourne for the shoot, which we loved, because we’re all about new locations and creative ideas. After we headed across the street for some shots by the river and wooded trail at Wimbrow park for some more variety.

Well if you can’t see the love between these two people, you may need your vision checked! Stephen and Gena were married on the beach in Hutchinson Island on a beautiful, breezy Wednesday evening. The reception was held at the Courtyard Marriott hotel and was decorated to the max by Jill (and her crew) at the Pink Pelican Florist. Tropical was the theme and delicious was the cake. It really felt like we were on a tropical island for this intimate wedding, congrats Stephen and Gena!

This sunny California couple had their destination wedding on the sands of Cocoa Beach, at the Hilton Oceanfront. It was very sentimental to the bride and family to have it at this location, and the weather couldn’t have better reflected their bright and happy personalities. Since they live in Cali, we didn’t have a chance to meet the couple before hand, but we instantly clicked and had a great time getting to know the fun bridal party. Hopefully they weren’t mad at us for making them romp around in the hot sun for so long during the different photo sessions : )

Karry and the girls from Uniquely Yours Wedding & Event planning did such a great job organizing and decorating the hotel. We are always so happy to do weddings with them, because everything goes so smoothly and has so many nice details. We were also happy to work with the talented ladies at Thallo Floral Design Studio (who we have a flower crush on… if there is such a thing) – they did a beautiful job with the yellow tropical flowers and leafy accents, especially the Hawaiian inspired maile leis for the guys.

Steve & Thuy… some of the coolest cats I know. I knew of Steve back in High school (but not very well since I’m old) and got to know them both a lot better over the last few years through mutual friends. Everyone who knows them agrees, they are one of the most perfect couples around. With that in mind, I knew they would be fun to shoot, as long as Steve didn’t get a black eye from training before hand of course. Even if he did, it probably wouldn’t have mattered with his striking lady standing next to him. She did such a great job with her make-up, the outfits and they both were easy going and went with the flow, sometimes laying in tall grass in Florida can be a little scary, so I’m glad they were cool with everything.

We are just so excited about their upcoming September wedding at the Heaven Event Center in Orlando. Their wedding day is going to feature a lot of Vietnamese traditions, like a tea ceremony, and even her first dress is going to be the traditional Vietnamese style as well. We are so honored they chose us to document their wedding and can’t wait to see it all come together

Carly and Joey’s wedding was such a sweet and fun event…I mean how could it NOT be fun with 20+ rambunctious men in uniform on the dance floor all night. After the ceremony at Holy Cross Catholic Church and photos on the beach we made our way to their reception at The Moorings Club. Hydrangeas provided by Hutchinson’s Floral Artistry decorated the dining tables and White Rose Entertainment out of Orlando contributed their awesome DJ skills to set the mood for lots of dancing. Of course a navy wedding wouldn’t be complete without a tribute to Top Gun…but I think Carly enjoyed the “You’ve Lost that Lovin’ Feelin” serenade and was thankful she wasn’t dropped after being hoisted to the ceiling and proudly paraded around the dance floor in her chair.

Here in Florida, summer is certainly back… and it is back with a humid heat filled vengeance. Due to some different factors, we ended up shooting in what was probably the hottest part of the day in 90 degree weather! Luckily Jordan didn’t have a heat stroke (jeans, woah) and I swear, Barbara didn’t even break out a sweat. Unlike Nicki and I who probably looked like a mess by the end of the shoot, haha. These photos are from a little hidden jewel in Sebastian called Rock City Gardens. It is a plant nursery that also hosts weddings & events on their lush property. So be sure to check them out if you’re looking to freshen up your landscape, or tie the knot in a unique venue! The Marcello twins are back, and this time bigger than ever. They have certainly blossomed into very cute 1 year old twins! Their prior shoot, which involved ingesting unknown amounts of beach sand, is now being followed up with a shoot at McKee Gardens, which involved ingesting unknown amounts of grass! : ) Everyone involved in this shoot was a trooper… 12 o’clock in the afternoon + June + Florida is enough to make anyone a lil cranky. Kate and Colin are such a cute duo! You can tell that they are really comfortable with themselves and each other which is so important in a marriage! They were married on the beach and had their reception at “The Pearl” restaurant in Vero Beach. The flowers were designed by the talented Jill at the Pink Pelican Florist. Instead of a honeymoon they actually moved to Colorado the day after their wedding, where Colin will be based for the army. Good luck you two!

Oh Chelsea. If only I could run faster… I would have stolen your pink Badgley Mischka heels from you. Alas, since you have looks and brains, I assume you also have speed & agility too so I didn’t attempt it. Speaking of brains, a HUGE congratulations are in order. Not only did she plan a gorgeous wedding, but at the same time, she graduated from med school and has become a doctor! So hopefully I didn’t cause any damage to her smart brain when I accidentally hit her on the forehead twice with my flash. So sorry about that. You will also notice some of the talented groom’s artwork throughout the wedding… even the groomsmen were given custom hats from his company Stranded at Sea. So back to the wedding, their ceremony (which was absolutely dry, no rain!) took place at the Grand Harbor Beach Club. After the ceremony, the guests followed their treasure map to the reception location, which was the Grand Harbor Golf Club. Chelsea didn’t want to risk any damage to the shoes, so we scoped out some lovely tree lines streets at the golf club for a majority of the portraits.

A little back story, after we initially met with Chelsea, Brian and her parents, we loved them all. They were so sweet and we were honored to be chosen to shoot their wedding. Later on we ended up getting to do a fun and unique engagement session with the lovely couple, which was a fair theme, and actually ended up being a great way to get to know them better before the big day. What better way to get to know a couple more then over elephant ears and cotton candy?

Have a great honeymoon and we look forward to hear from you when you return!

Rosie and Rob…sittin’ in a tree. Seriously cute couple in these pics! They were married at The Moorings Club here in Vero in a ceremony overlooking the Indian River. They partied into the night to music played by an awesome 9-piece band at their detail-filled reception. Of course they had to go out with a bang and sprinted through a tunnel of sparklers to a sporty convertible waiting to take them away. When we first arrived at the Quail Creek Plantation for their wedding and saw about 5 billion mason jars we knew this wedding was going to be right up our alley. We’ve seen quite a few happy couples getting married throughout the years. Often we’re so busy running around taking photos of all of the moments & details that we don’t get a chance to sit back and relax with the couple. Well at this wedding, we got the chance to take a little break on a boat ride from the church to the reception location at the Quail Valley Golf Club. And it was on this little break, that I got to witness one of the greatest acts of love. The bride’s feet were hurting because of her super cute, yet uncomfortable shoes and no one had a band-aid. So the groom heroically removed his own band-aids and gave them to her. If that’s not love, I don’t know what is. : )

We had a great time at the reception and it was decorated beeeautifully. We loved all of the details and table setup and wish you both many years of laughter and band-aid sharing!

Leshya and Sean are two unique individuals who live in Dallas but are getting married here in Vero in just a few months. They were so excited about their engagement pictures and even sent us descriptive words of themselves to help Chrissy and I brainstorm some ideas for their photos. Vintage being one of them, we kept our eyes open for something unique and we found it! On a walk along the river here in Sebastian, I approached a man sitting in a 1928 Ford Roadster Pickup and asked him if he’d be interested in allowing us to photograph his truck. He obliged and the outcome is pretty cutie. Another descriptive word the couple used was urban, so of course we had to take some photos downtown – because as you locals know, that’s about as urban as it gets here in Vero!

This is a preview from our vintage themed family portrait session that took place at the Sebastian Preserve. The preserve is a little known camping and horse trail destination with lots of wildlife. We got to see like 500 deer on the way to the spot, it was awesome. Angie, who is also a fellow photographer in Vero Beach, did a great job coordinating the outfits and gathering props for the shoot! Hopefully it wasn’t too weird for her and her husband being on the other side of the camera : )

Nico’s Christening

Actually…this christening had two main attractions. Cousins Domenico and Cristiano were baptized at a private ceremony at St. Helen’s Church in Vero Beach. I love these families! The Italian enthusiasm of Nico’s paternal grandparents and the southern charm of his mother’s family is so refreshing. Everyone gets along wonderfully and they all show such generosity and grace. They had a quaint dinner party at their family’s restaurant, The Scampi Grill and toasted with champagne and wine until the early evening. There’s nothing quite like celebrating the beginning of two adorable baby’s lives.

Keri + Jeremy | Picnic Engagement

We’ve been waiting all winter (I know, not very cold in Florida, but still…) to have a fun sunny picnic themed engagement session. Fully equipped with colorful flowers, publix brand lemonade and an awesome sunny day. I know these may look all summery and fun and sweet, but it wasn’t all fun and games. At our first location we had to battle some deadly stinging weed plants from hell. Jeremy climbed the tree to safety and went unharmed, but Keri and I weren’t so lucky. Then at our second destination we had to battle a flock of creepy vultures who kept watching us. At first we just thought there was one or two, but there turned out to be like a million. Kind of felt like an Alfred Hitchcock movie. But all danger aside, we had perfect weather and Keri & Jeremy were so sweet and playful and easy to photograph. I always like to give a huge prop to guys who can put up with hours of photography! Jeremy was a real trooper. Enjoy!

Okay…one word to describe Kelly + Eric’s wedding…FUN! They were married at the Hammock Beach Resort overlooking the ocean and partied like rockstars on the Ginn Sundancer yacht for their reception. Everyone that came to this wedding was ready to have a great time, and it’s good thing because once the boat set sail on its cruise down the Intercoastal, there wasn’t any turning back! P.S. Who doesn’t love a birdcage veil? Kelly looked gorgeous in her lace dress and vintage accessories…we just love this style!

Robin + Tre | Mansion at Tuckahoe | Jensen Beach, FL

We learned that this Dungey wedding was the 5th one in their family. Yes FIVE girls in their fam, TWO sets of twins and another daughter, which kinda blew my mind. Robin and Tre were married at the Mansion at Tuckahoe with a ceremony overlooking the river and a reception that filled the entire mansion. They had the cutest little flower girls and ring bearers and a perfectly sized bridal party. The Tuckahoe chauffeur escorted us all over the park in his handy golf cart after their wedding which gave us plenty of time to get such a great variety of shots for Robin, Tre and their bridal party. We often have to tell our brides to let us know when they want to stop, because we could go on for hours and hours… You’ll notice a few of the reception photos are of the Dungey sisters and a family member who performed a surprise song for Robin reminiscing about their time as Indian Princesses, too cute!

Nicki and I are frequent visitors of downtown Melbourne, and we’ve been looking forward to shooting there for some time. Lucky for us, Ashley and Mike came along and were totally down for it. So Sunday morning we began strolling around the business district for some cool architecture and rustic settings. I didn’t know this, but on Sunday all of the businesses close down, so we had free reign without too many on lookers. Just don’t try to go to Matt’s Casbah before they open, they frown on that. I think we found a lot of cool spots and colorful settings and it was great to get to know them more before their October wedding at the beautiful Moorings Club in Vero Beach.

Taner Vow Renewal

Cecelia’s Christening

Ok…I don’t even have to tell you what is so striking about Baby Cecelia…but they are big and blue! I couldn’t get enough of this little girl, I got to spend a couple hours with her and her family who traveled from all over the world to be present for her Catholic christening here in Vero Beach. When I first arrived she wasn’t quite sure what to think about the girl with the big black camera, but she was a doll for the ceremony. Afterward she really showed her personality and couldn’t stop waving her arms with delight!

Vanessa + Kris | Vero Beach Hotel Wedding

We loooovvee Vanessa and Kris. I’m having a hard time coming up with a description for this post, because love between a photographer and a couple is probably sounding pretty weird. But ever since we first met them during their engagement session, we have been so looking forward to this wedding. They are such a sweet and in love couple, which makes them very easy to photograph. Except for the height difference, that can be kind of difficult at times, haha. Luckily some beach goers left a deep hole that Kris could stand in to bring him down a foot or so.

Their wedding was last Saturday at the Vero Beach Hotel, and the spring weather was just perfect. Vanessa was so gorgeous… it was so cute when she walked down the aisle, Kris was so anxious to stand next to her I heard him asking permission. After the ceremony we got a good amount of time for photos with the couple, and we got to explore some new areas of the hotel for some nice sunset portraits, which you know how much we love our sunset time. At the reception the event decor was coastal chic and aqua (our favorite color) with lots of fun hand made details. We had a fun time at the reception (gotta love Italians!) and it was great to work with some new vendors. Ed Meade from Class Act Productions did a great job organizing everything and entertaining the reception. We also got to meet our new friend Mary Angelini from Key Moments Productions who did the Videography. Also Jill from Pink Pelican did a great job with the bouquets.

Jessica + Jeremy | Crowne Plaza Hotel

Jessica and Jeremy were married at the forever fun Crowne Plaza Hotel in Indialantic, Florida. The coastal inspired ceremony took place at the gazebo with an oceanside reception under a big white tent, one of both Chrissy and my favorite types of receptions! Jessica did an amazing job with the decor… it was a modern twist on a nautical theme with high contrast black and white tablecloths and unique lantern centerpieces. Look closely and you’ll see the bride and groom doing the exact same pose as their cake topper! They actually did that several times during the evening, I hope Jessica’s back wasn’t terribly sore after all that romantic dipping. Congrats J + J!

Tiffany + Chris | Vero Beach Hotel

This intimate Sunday afternoon wedding was located at the contemporary Vero Beach Hotel & Spa. Tiffany’s dress was so unique and fluffy we were pretty afraid to get it sandy on the beach, but luckily she braved it. She also had a great groomie who was an expert dress handeler person so that helped to keep the dress damage free. Her bouquet was also pretty unique, it was designed to look like a single over sized white rose. Tiffany also did a great job with the decor, the table settings coordinated with Vero Beach hotel’s ball room so well, they were coastal, but not overly beachy or anything. The wedding cake (which tasted as good as it looked) was by “A piece of Cake: By Elena” – yum.

Kelly + Eric’s Engagement Session

We found some really unique spots for this session, including a patch of seagrape leaves that just happened to be the same shade of red as Kelly’s hair – just perfect!

You may remember Jenn & Rich from their urban downtown Orlando engagement session. Well this past weekend was their super cute beach-side chic wedding on St. Pete Beach at the Sirata Hotel. The weather was perfect, the location was lovely and the couple oh-so-dreamy. Well they are friends of mine, so I may be partial : )

I must say, after shooting on the west coast, I’m quite jealous. Don’t get me wrong… as much as I love the private beaches of Vero and the Treasure Coast… I really. really. wish we had sunsets. Aaahh. So anyway, we had a great time at the wedding and I hope you both are enjoying you honeymoon in ITALY! Ciao!

The Citrus Grillhouse, a soon-to-be hot spot, hosted a pre opening private party for some of Vero Beach’s top professionals. The owners Scott and Allison Varricchio will be opening their doors within the next few weeks. Atop the grounds where Vero’s famed Krusty’s once existed, the Citrus Grillhouse has innovative dishes and beautiful views!

Chelsea + Brian | Vero Beach Engagement

When I mentioned the fair engagement session idea to some people, they laughed and didn’t really get it. LUCKILY… Chelsea & Brian loved the idea since they like to go to the fair as a date every year. They were the perfect couple for this setting, and came prepared with equally perfect attire and smiles. Not to mention they also came with an appetite for elephant ears too… yummm! Besides the awesome yet deadly fried food, the great thing about the fair is it looks just as awesome at night as it does in the day. The bad thing about the fair is everyone stares at you like your crazy. Luckily they live in Miami so they didn’t run into many people they knew, haha. Also, since when did they stop serving cotton candy on a stick? They were all bagged and smooshed, but luckily Brian is an engineer and was able to rig a straw/stick contraption. Thanks for the most fun engagement session! Can’t wait for your Grand Harbor wedding in May : )

This cutie baby is just over 1 month old and is lucky to have so many relatives surrounding her. What a great idea to include the grandparents as well in the newborn photo shoot. I just hope she didn’t have nightmares of some crazy blonde in her face with a big ole camera.

Jenn + Rich | Orlando Engagement Session

I’ve always secretly wanted to do a cool urban/graffiti engagement session, but unfortunately (or fortunately?) Indian River County doesn’t allow that sort of nonsense to go on. So while in Downtown Orlando this weekend, Jenn and Filthy Rich scoped out the perfect spot. We did have to travel to the other side of the tracks to find the graffiti wall-o-fun, but luckily no camera equipment was harmed in the making of this shoot. Looking forward to their upcoming wedding in St Petersburg Beach! (let the countdown begin… T-20 days)

Shauna + Josh

Shauna and Josh were married at the Mansion at Tuckahoe at Indian Riverside Park in Jensen Beach, Florida. They were actually the first to hold their reception in the newly restored building. What a view the guests had from their tables at dinner… gorgeous you will see! The reception had many special touches including several speeches, two special songs performed by the bride’s father on the guitar, and a photographer who bounced off a window during the toast. Way to go cleaning staff of the mansion – Chrissy didn’t even notice the glass! Luckily no one was injured, only a few noticed and the rest of the evening went off without a hitch. Congratulations Shauna and Josh!
